Privacy policy

RugRoom is a set of UK rug buying guides. It has no accounts, no cookies and no analytics, so it collects very little about you. The only thing you can send us is a message through the contact form. This page explains exactly what happens when you visit.

Who is responsible for your data

rugroom.uk is run by the operator of RugRoom(the "controller" under UK data protection law).You can reach us through the contact page.

What we collect

  • Messages you send through the contact form. If you use the form we receive the name, email address and message you type, plus the topic you pick and the page address if you add one. We use them only to reply to you. There are no accounts, and the vehicle search box on the home page works in your browser and does not transmit what you type.
  • Standard connection data. Like any website, our host processes the IP address, browser type and the address of the page requested when your browser loads a page. This is needed to deliver and protect the site. We do not use it to identify individual visitors.
  • No cookies and no tracking. RugRoom does not set cookies and does not use analytics or advertising trackers. If that changes we will update this page first and ask for consent where the law requires it.

Other companies involved

  • Cloudflare hosts the site and delivers it through its network.
  • jsDelivr serves the open-source Bootstrap style sheets, scripts and icons the pages use. Your browser requests these files directly from jsDelivr, so it receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads.
  • Amazon. Many pages link to Amazon.co.uk. These links carry our Amazon Associates tracking ID (see the affiliate disclosure). Once you click through, Amazon's own privacy notice and cookies apply; seeAmazon's privacy notice.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile protects the contact form from spam. It loads only on the contact page and checks that a real person is sending the message.
  • Resend is the email delivery service that carries your contact form message to us.
  • Rug specifications and price bracket information are fetched from public sources when the site is built. This does not involve any visitor data.

Why we may process your data

Under UK GDPR our basis is legitimate interests: keeping the site running and secure, and replying to messages you choose to send us. We do not sell your data or use it for automated decisions.

How long we keep it

Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your message and any follow-up. Connection logs are held by our hosting provider under its own retention rules.

Transfers outside the UK

Cloudflare, jsDelivr and Resend operate in many countries, so your data may be processed outside the UK. They rely on recognised safeguards for international transfers under their own terms.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable format. Contact us using the details above. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office atico.org.uk.
